KCG will have for a mission to assist Universities, private and public, in carrying out their missions in Compliance with applicable National and International Laws and Regulations, and Professional and Ethical Standards.
Also, as Universities receive grants and contracts from various donors in support of research, it is vital to be compliant with sponsors’ and regulatory requirements including the financial reporting obligation. This is necessary to ensure that the grants and contracts awarded meet their stipulated purpose, further securing the continuity of the flow of grants and contracts in support of a University’s mission.
Any University must also adhere to all applicable data privacy laws and regulations and to ensure data has been obtained correctly and held in a secure manner. Protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access and disclosure and ensuring that the employees are provided the necessary training on how to comply with data privacy, is a major success factor to any University.
U.S. economic sanctions programs are another Compliance issue for Universities, and confirmation that individuals and entities are not included on the Specially Designated Nationals List (“SDN List”) maintained by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”), in advance of hiring, engagement, invitation to the University, or contract execution, faculty and staff, contractors, vendors and suppliers, and unenrolled individuals or entities invited to the university to receive training or expert advice or assistance, is required.
Compliance with the Principles of Ethical Conduct, the Code of Business Ethics, the Fraud Policy, the Conflicts of Interest Policy, and the Anti-Bribery Policy, are on the other hand paramount for the best operation of any University.
